Latest Championship return plan could see Leeds United win promotion at Elland Road

The Championship are reportedly preparing to go in their own direction to complete remaining fixtures.

According to The Sun , the EFL have ruled out playing games at neutral venues with clubs prepared to play remaining fixtures home and away as originally planned.

That would mean the likes of Leeds United and West Brom could be promoted in their home stadiums, but that could also throw up a number of challenges.

Fears remain that crowds will gather outside the respective stadiums or indeed at other locations to celebrate promotion - or survival for those near the bottom.

The report claims, however, that police have not raised concerns.

It's also said that the EFL are hoping to use fewer tests than the Premier League as they look to finish the campaign quickly.

The report suggests the EFL are hoping to get the second tier up and running again as early as the beginning of next month.

A top EFL official told The Sun: "We have had our own consultations among ourselves and with local police and authorities.

"We have also been looking into the medical side for weeks and believe it will take a limited number of tests, properly monitored, to keep players and staff safe."

Championship clubs are said to be concerned about the availability and cost of the tests being eyed by the Premier League, hoping to finish the season without matching the testing plans of the top flight.

Though, plenty is still to be ironed out, including plans for the playoffs, with meetings set to continue next week.
