Latest Celtic transfer rumours: Mitchel Bakker blow and Ivan Toney blast by Peterborough chief

Here are all the latest transfer rumours and gossip surrounding Celtic.

Bakker blow

Celtic have reportedly suffered a setback in their pursuit of PSG defender Mitchel Bakker.

Neil Lennon's side were planning to return with a second loan bid for the left-back after their initial offer was rejected.

But Dutch journalist Thierry Boon claims the defender has 'ruled out' a loan switch this summer and wants to fight for his place at Parc Des Princes.

He said: "Celtic seems to want to loan Mitchel Bakker from PSG. The left back rules out a (temporary) departure."

Bakker added: "I’m going for a chance in Paris."

Doughty offer rejected

Lee Bowyer has confirmed Charlton have knocked back an offer from Celtic for highly-rated winger Alfie Doughty.

The Hoops are keen on landing the youngster with Nick Hammond in attendance at the weekend to watch Charlton's EFL Cup victory away to Swindon Town.

Bowyer told London News Online: “We did turn down an offer from Celtic. And they were at the game at the weekend, from what I understand.

“But we’ve not heard anything since.

“In an ideal world, and this is just me speaking on how I would advise Alfie, it would be for him to sign another deal and do another year – do a full season with us.”

Peterborough chief in Ivan Toney rant

Peterborough chief Darragh MacAnthony reveals he was left angered at the approach of one club who tried to sign Ivan Toney this summer.

The frontman eventually signed for Brentford in a £9million deal but was linked with a host of clubs in recent months – including Celtic and Rangers.

MacAnthony said on his Hard Truth podcast: “One of the clubs that tried to buy him wound me up.

“They came in with their fee, half of what Brentford paid, their pitch was ‘listen, we’ll just wait to January, and in January we will pre-sign him and you won’t get a pound note.

“When you try and negotiate with me like that, all you do is f****** wind me up. I wasn’t born yesterday, I’ve been around the business a long time, that’s probably over £60m worth of transfers I’ve done since I bought Peterborough United.”
