Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Thomas Lemar set for Atletico exit, Barcelona target ex-Gunners forward

Just 19 days remain of the calendar year, and as a result, the January transfer window is just around the corner.

Already the transfer rumour mill is in full flow with clubs from all over the continent linked with a host of stars.

And although the Gunners remain without a manager following Unai Emery’s sacking at the end of November, it is hard to imagine that the club won’t look to strengthen in the upcoming window.

And below is the latest transfer rumours involving Arsenal.

Lemar set for Atletico exit

Thomas Lemar is set for a January move away from Atletico Madrid with the club reportedly haven 'give up' on the winger.

The Gunners were desperate to sign France international from Monaco on deadline day in summer 2017 - but had a £92million offer rebuffed by the Ligue 1 club.

But according to France Football, staff at the Spanish club have decided they no longer want to work with Lemar.

Lemar, who has made 61 appearances for the Spanish giants, has also been linked with Liverpool in the past.

Barcelona target ex-Arsenal forward

Barcelona are expressing an interest in former Arsenal forward Carlos Vela and are keen to bring the Mexico international back to European football, former Galaxy star Jonathan Dos Santos has claimed.

Vela last played in Europe back in 2017 with Real Sociedad and previously represented the Gunners as well as West Brom before making the move to North America.

"It is true, he has that offer on the table [from Barcelona],” Dos Santos told W Radio.

“I don't know what he's going to do. He's very happy in Los Angeles, he had a spectacular season, but Barca looking for you is a very nice opportunity.”

Fresh competition for Demiral

Four Premier League sides are in talks with Merih Demiral’s representatives according to Turkish football.

Arsenal have been reported as expressing an interest in Demiral, but Tottenham have also recently entered the race and Manchester United also having made enquiries.

The Turkey international is believed to be keeping his options open regarding a January move after struggling for playing time under the stewardship of Maurizio Sarri.

The 21-year-old was signed on a €19m move from Sassuolo in summer before Sarri was appointed manager.
