Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Thomas Lemar offer, target's cryptic post, Layvin Kurzawa blow

Arsenal may be showing slight signs of improvement under Mikel Arteta but more does need to be done and the January transfer window is a big part of that.

The Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon in a game which highlighted some of the areas the club needs to make strides.

One of the lasting impressions post-match is that Arsenal must make some moves in the transfer market and this month the rumour mill is heading closer towards going into overdrive.

Here is the latest gossip round-up below.

Chris Wilder praises Gabriel Martinelli and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's absence

Arsenal make Lemar offer

Arsenal have reportedly made a bid for Atletico Madrid star Thomas Lemar.

The Gunners' interest in the 24-year-old is said to have dated back to 2018 when the club were believed to have gone close to signing the rising star.

That was when Lemar was still at AS Monaco before he made the switch to La Liga six months later.

Arteta's version of Arsenal remains interested in Lemar and AS claim that the Gunners have now stepped up their pursuit by making an offer for Lemar.

Arsenal target's cryptic post

Bruno Guimaraes has been linked with a January transfer from Athletico Paranaense to Arsenal and now the midfielder has sent out a cryptic post.

Technical director Edu is reportedly set to hold talks with the Brazilian's agent and he has sent out an interesting tweet.

The excitement from Arsenal supporters about a potential move for Guimaraes has intensified after the midfielder took to social media on Friday evening.

The 22-year-old wrote: "Ta chegando a hora," which translates to: "The time is coming."

He also added three Brazilian flag emojis which fans have linked to him adding to the Brazilians in David Luiz and Gabriel Martinelli who are already at the club.

Athletico Paranaense want a fee of around £21-£25.5 million for the transfer.

Kurzawa blow for Arsenal

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Thomas Tuchel has dropped a bombshell in regards to the future of Layvin Kurzawa.

Arsenal are trying to sign the 27-year-old, who has featured in eleven league matches for the French side this term.

The Gunners are eager to add defensive options this month following the losses of Calum Chambers and Kieran Tierney to injuries.

Whilst football.london understands that Arsenal are in talks to sign the left-back, Tuchel has explained his stance on Kurzawa's future.

“I haven't spoken with Layvin or anyone else about his departure this winter," per Goal.

“Layvin is number two behind [Juan] Bernat in the left-back position. We need him and Layvin will play tomorrow (Sunday) against Lorient. He has played well recently.”
