Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Sergio Aguero key to Gunners deal, Luka Jovic decision

Here are your transfer rumours for Monday, April 13.

Arsenal stopper waiting on Sergio Aguero’s decision

Emiliano Martinez has said he would be open to returning home to Argentina, but only if it saw him link-up with Sergio Aguero.

Martinez, 27, left Independiente for the Emirates 10 years ago, and after several loan moves in the Football League and Spain has established himself as the club’s No.2 stopper this season following the retirement of Petr Cech last summer.

This season has been his busiest for the Gunners, and yet he has revealed he would welcome a return to his former club if he can link up with Manchester City’s all-time top goalscorer, who is a boyhood Independiente fan.

Arsenal behind the scenes on the impact on transfers this summer and the next great creative midfielder

When asked if he would ever move back home, he told TNT Sports: “Well, when Kun Aguero returns, I think about it too. It’s the club he loves. The truth is that you can never rule that out.

“I’m open to everything, especially with this British stuff. I played in Argentina until I was 17 or 18. I’m never going to say no to the chance of coming back, maybe in two or three years, I’ll be looking forward to it.”

This comes after news earlier this month that Arsenal had finally agreed to pay Independiente an outstanding amount of half a million euros due to a clause in the stopper’s contract when he signed for the club in the summer of 2010.

Hakimi refuses to rule out Gunners switch

Achraf Hakimi is not ruling out a potential summer move after being linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham.

The Real Madrid defender signed with Borussia Dortmund on a two-year loan deal in 2018 and is due to return to the Spanish capital at the end of the current season. His performances for Dortmund have caught the eye of several clubs, most recently Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham.

That trio are joined by Bayern Munich, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain in being credited with interest in Hakimi, who represents Morocco at international level.

Asked if he was flattered by the interest in his services, Achraf told Cadena SER: “Who does not like it? I am proud of what I am doing.

“In June, I will have to make a decision, and it will be a great step for my career. In theory, my contract ends in June, and from there, I have to return to Madrid.

“I have not yet had contact with Madrid on this matter, but I imagine that soon we will have some conversation to find out what is best for me.”

Real Madrid make Jovic decision amid Arsenal interest

Serbian striker Luka Jovic has been told he will be given another season to prove himself at Real Madrid.

Jovic joined Real Madrid from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer, but he has not had the impact many expected at the Bernabeu. That had seen speculation he would leave the club during the next transfer window, either on loan or permanently, with Arsenal said to be targeting the forward.

The North London club are said to be searching the market for a potential new frontman amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

AS claim Arsenal have sounded Jovic out over a possible move to Emirates Stadium this summer, with the club open to either a loan deal or a permanent transfer dependent on Real’s stance.

That will be rejected, however, as the Spanish giants are unsure about their ability to attract a big-money replacement in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. Los Blancos are keen on signing Erling Haaland should Borussia Dortmund give any indication they are willing to sell.
