Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Prolific striker wants Gunners move, £52m Upamecano deal

Arsenal secured their path into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup this week and now have their path for the remainder of the season sketched out in front of them.

That competition represents their only chance of securing a trophy under Mikel Arteta this season, while in the Premier League the push for European football next season continues.

There is still plenty of work to do this summer though as Arteta looks to rejuvenate his squad at the Emirates Stadium, which could see plenty of incoming and outgoing deals.

As a result, plenty of rumours continue to float around ahead of the summer transfer window and we have gathered some of the latest snippets below.

Mikel Arteta on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future

Watkins wants Arsenal switch

Brentford striker Ollie Watkins has admitted that his dream transfer would be to move to the Emirates Stadium to join Arsenal, speaking to the Sports Gazette.

The 24-year-old has excelled in the club's push for promotion this season, scoring 22 goals so far for the Bees and contributing a further three assists, helping him to pick of the EFL's Player of the Year award.

While a jump to join Arsenal would be a significant one and he's unlikely to be on the club's shortlist just yet, he's made it clear he wants to make the move happen.

“Yeah, the dream. That’s the dream to play for Arsenal one day. But you know, it’s a long shot.”

£52m Upamecano update

RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano has stated that he will discuss a potential transfer away from the Bundesliga side at the end of the season but remains focused on his side's objectives this term.

The highly-rated defender has been linked with a £52million switch to join Arsenal as part of Arteta's defensive overhaul, although the Gunners could face competition in the transfer market.

“For the moment, I am still under contract until 2021. I am going to have to continue to train well and play matches. Even though I know that there are clubs that want me, that is certain, I am keeping my feet on the ground.

“We will discuss my future at the end of the season with my agents and my family. Of course [it’s flattering to be linked to Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Arsenal] but I am at Leipzig and I want to reach the aims that the club has set. I do not want to talk about anything else at the moment."

Jonathan David deal

Arsenal continue to be touted for a move to sign Genk sensation Jonathan David following his spectacular performances in the Belgian league so far this season.

With Gunners captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang having an uncertain future as he rapidly approaches the final 12 months of his contract in North London, replacements are being considered.

According to the latest reports , Arsenal are considering a £17.5m swoop for the 20-year-old Canada international who has scored 18 goals and contributed seven assists this season.

The chances of a deal taking place have been boosted by comments from his agent, who stated David is ready for the next step, but his move must be an 'intelligent' one.
