Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Napoli eye Lucas Torreira, Merih Demiral speaks out on transfer speculation

The January transfer window is just weeks away from opening for business as clubs braces themselves for the madness that it normally brings.

Normally, Arsenal are quiet in the winter window, but after a slow start to this season, the club could be forced to splash the cash in a bid to secure Champions League football.

While Gunners fans, who have been quick to voice their opinion on the season so far, will no doubt be hoping the club's board can add so much needed reinforcements.

There are already plenty of rumours floating around and we have gathered some of the latest pieces of gossip for you below.

Everything you need to know about the January transfer window

Napoli eye Torreira

Napoli, despite sacking manager Carlo Ancelotti on Tuesday night, are eyeing a move for Lucas Torreira in January.

According to Italian website Tuttomercatoweb , the Serie A side have identified Torreira as their main target in the upcoming winter window.

Reports recently emerged that the Uruguayan was keen to quit the Emirates after struggling to break into the Gunners' starting XI under former boss Unai Emery.

The report also states that former AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso is set to replace Ancellotti.

Demiral address transfer speculation

Juventus defender Merih Demiral has spoken out on transfer speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

The Turkish international arrived at Juve in the summer but hasn’t played more than one game since joining the club.

This has lead to speculation linking the centre-back with a move to the Emirates in January, and Demiral, speaking to Juve.com , opted to take a conservative approach to the question.

He said: “I heard these voices like you. But as I said, one of my goals is to try to give 100% in my field performance in every game and training.

“As long as I do it, things are likely to be good for me. As always, I continue to focus on my work. Then my team takes care of the market.”

Transfers Ancelotti could make

Carlo Ancelotti has been linked with a move to Arsenal after being sacked by Napoli on Tuesday night.

The former Chelsea boss recently laughed off speculation linking him with a move back to London, but he is now the second favourite, behind Mikel Arteta, with the bookies to succeed Unai Emery - and the Express have identified three transfers Arsenal could make in the January transfer window under the Italian.

The first is Wilfried Zaha, who according to the report, is still wanted by both Arsenal and Chelsea, after the Gunners failed with a bid to land the Crystal Palace winger in the summer.

The second is Nico Elvedi, who has been one of the stars for Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach, with the third being out of favour Juventus midfielder Emre Can, who looks set to leave the Italian giants in January.
