Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Mkhitaryan valuation, Gunners priced out of £106m Coutinho move

With Mikel Arteta tasked with returning Arsenal to something approaching their former glory days, summer recruitment is going to be crucial to the Gunners closing the gap with the Premier League's elite.

The Spaniard is expected to strengthen in all areas, with injuries across the board in 2019-20 highlighting the lack of squad options at the Emirates Stadium.

With that in mind, here are all the latest Arsenal transfer rumours.

Arsenal: The season so far

Arsenal and Roma ‘some way’ from Mkhitaryan valuation

One man unlikely to feature in Arteta’s long-term plans is Henrikh Mkhitaryan with the Gunners hoping to cash in on the Armenian forward before his current deal expires in 2021.

However, despite impressing during his loan spell with Roma, the Italian giants are some way from matching Arsenal’s asking price for the player according to Inside Futbol.

Mkhitaryan, 31, has scored 6 times and registered 3 assists in 13 Serie A appearances since his temporary switch in September, but with the season currently suspended, his future remains up in the air.

The Gunners have reportedly put a £20 million valuation on their player but the Italian giants are said to be only prepared to offer half that.

Roma are keen to sign the player permanently and know Arsenal may need to reduce their asking price or risk losing the player for nothing next summer.

Gunners priced out of Philippe Coutinho move

A player unlikely to come in as a potential replacement for Mkhitaryan is Philippe Coutinho after Barcelona slapped a whopping £106 million price tag on the unsettled Brazilian.

Coutinho, currently on loan at Bayern Munich, is believed to be surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp with Arsenal potentially eyeing his signature.

However with the Catalan club looking to recoup a significant chunk of the £142 million they paid Liverpool for the playmaker back in 2018, The Express report that the huge asking price has put the Gunners off.

Arsenal were among a number of clubs looking at the 28-year-old along with London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham, but are said to be looking at more cost effective options and are unprepared to spend so much on one player.

Arteta eyes record deal for potential striker replacement

That said, should Arteta lose one of his star frontmen Alexandre Lacazette or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the club may need to loosen the purse strings to bring in a replacement.

Should either or both players leave the Emirates, they should command a huge fee that could go towards the purchase of Lille striker Victor Osimhen.

Arsenal are reportedly keen on the Nigerian who has 18 goals in 38 appearances this season, but the French club are hoping to bring in around £89 million for the player according to HITC.com.

The Gunners will also face competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and both Manchester clubs who are all reportedly eyeing up the 21-year-old.

Arsenal who broke their transfer transfer record to sign Nicolas Pepe from Lille last summer will be hoping to again do business with the club as they look to boost their attacking options.

Curiously, the player previously revealed he rejected a move to north London back in 2015 having been courted by ex-Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
