Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Liverpool join Upamecano hunt, Aubameyang and Griezmann swap

Arsenal's season has been disrupted significantly by the coronavirus outbreak, with manager Mikel Arteta contracting the disease and a 14-day quarantine being implemented on the squad.

That is due to end on Tuesday but Premier League football will not return until the end of April at the earliest, with the suspension of fixtures possibly being extended further.

Plenty of questions are being asked during this unprecedented situation but the transfer rumours still continue to circulate ahead of the summer transfer window.

To help you keep on top of all of the latest, we have gathered some of the latest snippets for you below.

Liverpool join Upamecano hunt

Liverpool are the latest club to express an interest in RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano ahead of the summer transfer window, according to AS via The Daily Star.

The 21-year-old is Arsenal's top defensive target ahead of the summer but Mikel Arteta's side face intense competition in the market, with Barcelona also holding long-term interest.

However, the Reds are also in the hunt as Upamecano is on a three-man shortlist of targets to replace the veteran Croatian defender Dejan Lovren.

Atletico Madrid's Jose Maria Gimenez and Inter Milan prospect Alessandro Bastoni are the other two players that Jurgen Klopp is said to be considering as partners for Virgil van Dijk.

Arsenal given Griezmann opportunity

Arsenal have been given an opportunity to sign Antoine Griezmann from Barcelona at the end of the season as the Catalan giants eye a rebuild, OK Diario reports.

Barcelona are said to be willing to cut their losses this summer by offloading Griezmann, as they plot moves for forwards including Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez and Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The report states there are three ways a club can sign Griezmann - by offering £97m, negotiating a loan deal or offering a player in exchange for his services.

That opens the possibility of Arsenal offering Aubameyang to land the French World Cup winner, if he does not extend his deal at the Emirates Stadium.

United swap-deal options

Manchester United are among the more recent clubs to be linked with a move for Aubameyang as he approaches the final 12 months of his contract and the Daily Express has floated the prospect of a swap deal.

The report has identified four options for Arsenal to get in return for Aubameyang, listing Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial.

Bailly and Smalling could both be candidates to bolster the Gunners' defence, while Tuanzebe's versatility would be an asset and Martial could be a direct replacement for Martial.

Of course, Arsenal and United do have a history of swap deals, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alexis Sanchez moving in opposite ways previously - although that didn't work well for either party.
