Arsenal returned to action after more than three months away with their first Premier League game back against Manchester City on Wednesday night.
The Gunners will be desperate to improve on their efforts so far when they do restart, but boss Mikel Arteta knows he must also begin preparations for next season when Arsenal will be hoping to make a much better go at it.
The coronavirus shutdown has given clubs plenty of time to identify potential transfer targets for what could be an intriguing summer transfer window at the Emirates Stadium and beyond.
Kluivert swap deal
Mino Riola has attempted to set up a potential swap deal between Arsenal and AS Roma for Henikh Mikhtaryan and Justin Kluivert.
The Armenian has spent this season on loan in Serie A and impressed, whilst Kluivert is a rumoured target for the Gunners.
However, according to Corriere della Sera, talks are indeed ongoing regarding a swap deal, but Arsenal aren't keen on a proposal that would have included cash and Mkhitaryan.
However, the Arsenal man only has one year left on his deal, whilst Kluivert has a three-year deal.
Arsenal face Gueye competition
Arsenal are facing plenty of competition from rival clubs for the signature of Pape Gueye.
The Gunners have made an offer to sign the out-of-contract midfielder, according to Gueye’s representatives who have told French outlet Le Phoceen.
Le Havre midfielder Gueye, 21, has sprung onto the shortlists of numerous clubs after clocking up 40 senior appearances for the Ligue 2 side.
Watford announced earlier this year that they had agreed a pre-contract deal for Gueye –but the player has since released a statement with L’Equipe ruling out a move to the Hornets, whilst Ligue 1 clubs such as Marseille are taking an interest.
Kokcu contract
Feyenoord have entered talks with midfielder Orkun Kokcu over a new contract deal according to Voetbal International journalist Martijn Krabbendam.
The midfielder has attracted interest from Arsenal who are keen on signing the 19-year-old according to the Daily Mail.
Kokcu is tied down to the Eredivisie club until 2023 but he wants improved terms and Feyenoord could be forced into accepting his terms to avoid losing their rising star to the Gunners.
