Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Jerome Boateng blow, Eddie Nketiah decision, Ndidi move

Arsenal are looking to improve their squad in the January transfer window and it has led to speculation aplenty.

The rumour mill is never usually in short supply at this time of the year but on the back of Mikel Arteta's arrival, there is a renewed sense of optimism that Arsenal are going places again and that's leading to arguably even more reports than usual.

But clever recruitment is needed from the Gunners to ensure safe passage back to the high echelons of the Premier League.

Arsenal fans all have their own ideas on what they must do this month but what is the club actually up to at the moment on the transfer front? Here are the latest rumours.

Mikel Arteta on January transfer window possibilities

Arsenal suffer Boateng blow

Arsenal have been heavily linked with making a move for Jerome Boateng of Bayern Munich this month.

The centre-back is out of favour in Germany and has been touted as a cheaper alternative defensive option to Dayot Upamecano.

But the Gunners are now facing competition from AC Milan for the 31-year-old's services.

Sky Sports claim that Bayern would be willing to accept an offer in the region of £12.8 million and that has led to Milan also making a move.

Nketiah to make January decision

Eddie Nketiah is set to make a decision on his future within the next 48 hours, according to MailOnline.

The 20-year-old striker has returned to Arsenal from Leeds United after spending the first part of the season on loan, only to find game-time difficult to come by.

The Gunners now plan on sending him out on loan again this month for the rest of the 2019/20 campaign but it's said that Nketiah will make the call on where he ends up.

Nketiah reportedly has Premier League side Aston Villa and Championship outfits Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest to pick from.

Arsenal urged to chase Ndidi

Lucas Torreira's future at Arsenal is up in the air and the Gunners have now been urged to find a replacement.

Torreira could leave this summer and former Aston Villa star turned pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor believes that Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi should now be targeted by the Gunners.

Asked whether Arsenal should sign Ndidi, Agbonlahor explained on Stadium Astro: "Yeah, he would suit.

"With the way he’s been playing for Leicester, I think he’s got the legs.

"He can move the ball forward and win the ball back."
