Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: January target made available for summer move, star speaks out

The summer transfer window is almost upon us and once again Arsenal are being linked with names across Europe and beyond.

Some of the names are familiar ones returning to the fold, but others have been new names for Arsenal fans to get to terms with.

Arsenal's summer plans will be greatly effected by which European competition they are playing in next season, with a far larger transfer budget expected to be available if Emery's team reach the Champions League.

Here are some of the biggest rumours from today about Arsenal's transfer plans this summer:

Christopher Nkunku

He was one of the most expected signings of the January transfer window but never materialised in north London despite his apparent interest in a move.

But now Le Parisien are reporting that Nkunku is one of a group of players that PSG have decided will be let go this summer as they desperately attempt to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

PSG have to achieve a minimum of €60 million in player sales before June 30. Thomas Meunier and Stanley Nsoki are the other two players they plan to sell to reach that mark.

Nkunku is under contract until 2020 but has apparently wanted to leave Parc des Princes since last winter and so the club are willing to let him leave for an offer of around €20 million, which is around £17 million.

21-year-old Nkunku has made 26 appearances across all competitions for PSG this season and has already got three league medals and four cup medals between the two French cups.

Mesut Ozil

Midfielder Mesut Ozil has told Sky Sports that he is happy at Arsenal and has no intention of leaving the club anytime soon.

There are two seasons left on Ozil's contract and, despite regularly being mentioned as possible departure from north London, the German says he wants to keep playing his football at the Emirates.

He said: "Absolutely. I've got two more years on my contract. I don't know after that but I've got two years left."

He was also asked if he was happy at Arsenal and playing under Unai Emery, to which he said: "Yes. Why not? I'm 30 now, still got years in front of me, it's down to the club as well of course, but I've got two years here - after that I don't know what happens."

Catalin Cirjan

Romanian winderkid Catalin Cirjan has stoked rumours that he could be about to complete his move to Arsenal by sharing a social media post.

The 16-year-old told Romanian outlet Digi Sport (via the Metro) last year, when he was 15, that he would sign when he was 16.

He said: "They’ve been watching me for more matches and that was it – after that they sent me the tickets to go to them.

"They told me that I was a good player and that they wanted [me] to go to the big team in two years."

The attacking midfielder's move now appears to have taken another step in the right direction. With the player posting a picture of himself at the airport with a message reading 'New chapter in my life' on his instagram account.
