Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Jack Wilshere, Raheem Sterling, Ianis Stoica

The January transfer window can be a decisive moment in any club's season and that will be no different for Arsenal.

A strong run of results have made the possibility of playing European football next season all the more likely for Mikel Arteta's men and a decent second half to the season will be crucial to doing that.

The summer saw them spend £142million on new recruits and the majority have impressed with Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Aaron Ramsdale all becoming integral parts of the side.

While a figure such as that is unlikely to be splashed again in the winter, Arteta's squad overhaul is not complete. With that in mind, football.london takes you through the latest rumours from the Emirates Stadium.

What?

Mikel Arteta remained coy on the prospect of offering Jack Wilshere a playing contract at Arsenal.

The midfielder returned to the club in September to train with the Gunners as he hunts for a new club and, during his press conference on Thursday, Arteta was asked about the prospects of him.

"I think it's a great compliment for Jack that the players that are playing alongside him think that way of him," Arteta said in response.

"To be fair, he's doing really well, he's getting better and better and we know the qualities that Jack has."

Who?

Raheem Sterling

The Arsenal Lounge

What?

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently appeared on the Arsenal Lounge podcast to discuss potential dealings ahead of the January window.

Raheem Sterling's name popped up again. Arteta is a known admirer of the out-of-favour attacker and is said to be interested in bringing him to north London.

“For Sterling, it is about the contract. Man City have been clear with him – extend the contract, or we will try to sell you in January or next summer," Romano said.

“It’s true, Arsenal would love to have him. Mikel Arteta is in love, he is convinced he would be perfect. Man City want more than £50 million.”

What?

Reports have recently linked Arsenal with a move for highly-rated FCSB winger Ianis Stoica.

However, those claims have been cooled after a club director of the Romanian side insisted that no contact had been made in a bid to sign the 18-year-old.

“In order for Arsenal to be interested, Arsenal must send an email, a fax, something. These appearances, what is written … We have nothing, no interest whatsoever,” Mihai Stoica told Telekom Sport.
