Arsenal are back in Premier League less than a week from now, with Manchester City the challenge for the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta’s side have not played a competitive match since March and face one of the toughest challenges possible next Wednesday.
The Gunners have, like many other teams in the top-flight, been looking around Europe to potentially add to their squad for next season during the pause in play.
With that in mind, here are the very latest Arsenal transfer rumours.
Gunners want PSG defender
Arsenal and four other Premier League sides are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva, according to 90Min.
Silva’s contract at PSG expires at the end of the season – with the Ligue 1 champions still needing to complete their Champions League campaign.
The 35-year-old defender is expected to sign a mini extension at the French giants, but Arsenal are considering making an offer for the Brazilian.
Everton, Newcastle United, Wolves and West Ham United are also interested in Silva’s services.
Upamecano has agreement with Leipzig over transfer
RB Leipzig defender and reported Arsenal target Dayot Upamecano has an agreement with his current club over a summer transfer.
Upamecano’s contract at Leipzig runs out in a years’ time, and the Bundesliga club’s CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has revealed the side has an agreement with the defender and his agent.
“Upa is an extremely important player for us and one of the most sought-after talents in his position,” Mintzlaff said to Bild.
“One thing we can assure you of is that we have a very clear understanding with him and his agent that he will not be allowed to leave for free (next June).
“We can’t afford that as a club. There are two options for him – he will either sign a contract extension or leave. I’m sure that we will know relatively quickly in which direction it goes.”
Arsenal lead race for Roca
Arsenal are leading the race to sign Espanyol midfielder Marc Roca, according to Spanish outlet La Razon, as quoted by the Daily Express.
The report states that the Gunners face competition for the 23-year-old from Everton and AC Milan.
However, they also say Roca’s most likely destination – as it stands – is Arsenal, with a £35m release clause.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic causing financial uncertainty, Espanyol could look to sell Roca for a lower fee.
