Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Gunners linked with goalscoring midfielder, first deal 'agreed'

On the pitch, Arsenal remain in the chase for both the Europa League and a Premier League top four spot. But off it, things are also starting to heat up.

The summer transfer window is getting closer every day and Arsenal are still yet to bring in the technical director they had hoped for to guide them through it.

Despite that, the rumours linking the Gunners with a variety of players from around the globe are not going away any time soon.

Here are the latest updates and rumours for the players the Gunners have been linked with in the press in the last 24 hours.

Arsenal told what they must do to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Christopher Nkunku this summer

Bruno Fernandes

Arsenal have apparently joined the race to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes in the summer.

The Gunners have reportedly identified the Portuguese club’s captain as a replacement for the Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey, having scored 28 goals and recorded 15 assists in all competitions this season.

According to  O Jogo , the club are under pressure to sell, and the player leaving is now an inevitability. He could be sold for around €35m - the previous buy out clause in his contract. This is due to his old deal being terminated following the attack on the Sporting training ground last year.

Fernandes opted to stay at Sporting another year, despite being free to leave, and thus the club will reportedly not enforce his current €98m release.

Which is certainly attracting interest. Atletico, Milan, Juventus and Chelsea are among the sides already tracking the 24-year-old.

Ander Herrera

PSG are reportedly annoyed with how long it is taking Ander Herrera to seal his move to Ligue 1 after verbally agreeing a deal.

The French side won the league on Sunday thanks to a victory over Monaco, and are said to be targeting three midfielders in the summer window. That’s thanks to Lassana Diarra retiring in February and Adrien Rabiot’s summer exit.

The club were thought to have sealed the deal to take Herrera on a free transfer from Old Trafford, but the 29-year-old is dragging the process out according to  Paris Team , and waiting for other offers to arrive before formally accepting PSG’s offer.

This move has apparently “internally annoyed” PSG sporting director Antero Henrique, and they have apparently set their sights on other targets, including Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Weigl and Stanislav Lobotka from Celta Vigo.

Whether this is all just a ploy to get Herrera to hurry up or not is open to interpretation.

Gabriel Martinelli

Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Martinelli.

The 17-year-old has been linked with the Gunners for a while now following trial periods in the past with Barcelona and Manchester United.

But according to  UOL , the striker has agreed a deal to sign for the Gunners that will be announced in June when he turns 18. He is also rumoured to be close to securing an Italian passport, which would help the transfer.

No fees are discussed, but a fee between €5m and €10m was rumoured to be on the table between Arsenal and Ituano.
