Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Gunners learn Unai Nunez release clause, £18m defender targeted

It has now been over two months since Arsenal last played a match but, with the Bundesliga having returned, there is encouraging signs that the Premier League could follow suit.

Discussions surrounding Project Restart are set to continue this week, with the aim of playing the remaining 92 Premier League matches behind closed doors from mid-June.

That means there will at least a few more weeks without football for Arsenal but it hasn't quite brought an end to the discussions, as transfer rumours continue to circulate.

Here, we have gathered some of the latest stories surrounding the Gunners.

Unai Nunez interest revived

Arsenal are continuing to track Athletic Bilbao defender Unai Nunez ahead of the next transfer window, according to Spanish outlet AS.

The Spain U21 international was linked with a move to the Premier League in the January transfer window but eventually decided to remain with the Basque club.

However, he has not put pen to paper on a new deal and that could force the La Liga side into a sale, as they do not want to see his market value drop.

Nunez has a €30million buyout clause in his contract, which runs until 2023, and that figure will rise significantly if he signs a new agreement.

Neto targeted

Arsenal are among the clubs holding an interest in Barcelona goalkeeper Neto, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Brazilian only moved to the Nou Camp last summer from Valencia, with Jasper Cillessen going the other way and, with Cillessen likely to return to Holland, Valencia are keen on bringing him back.

However, the report states that they will face significant competition in the market to complete such a move, with Arsenal among those attributed with an interest in his services.

Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, Real Betis, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Ajax are all said to potentially be affected by this development, which could play a part in a significant goalkeeping reshuffle among those clubs.

Gunners following Ba

Arsenal are continuing to track Olympiacos defender Ousseynou Ba after being impressed with him during the Europa League clashes this season, Greek outlet Sportime reports.

The Senegal international was part of the side that knocked Mikel Arteta's team out of Europe this season prior to the coronavirus pandemic that has brought a halt to football.

Arteta is understood to be keen on signing a new defender this summer, potentially partnering returning loanee William Saliba for the long-term, and Ba is among those linked.

Olympiacos are seeking a fee of at least €20million to agree to a sale though, which is an affordable price for the Gunners but they may look at other options.
