Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Gunners face Edouard competition, Real Madrid target Upamecano

Arsenal’s summer transfer dealings are set to be shaped by the likely absence Champions League football next season.

However, despite having a limited budget to work with ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, Mikel Arteta will be looking to target bargain signings, alongside one or two big-money moves.

The Spaniard is expected to strengthen in all areas, with injuries across the board in 2019-20 highlighting the lack of squad options at the Emirates Stadium.

Here are all the latest Arsenal transfer rumours.

Who is Arsenal's first choice left-back?

Arsenal face Edouard competition

Arsenal face increased competition in the market for Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard, the latest reports state.

The French U21 international has caught the eye with 22 league goals for Neil Lennon’s side so far this season, alongside some vital strikes in the Europa League.

Reports in Leicester Mercury claim the Foxes are still interested in a move, after registering an interest back in January.

Celtic reportedly value the former PSG man in the region of £30M, with two years still to go on his contract in Glasgow.

Real Madrid push for Upamecano

Arsenal may be forced into a speedy decision on RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, with Real Madrid reportedly considering a move for the 21-year old.

Upamecano will be one of the most in-demand players in the summer market, after a string of outstanding displays at the heart of Julian Nagelsmann’s defence.

The Gunners were one of the first sides to show an interest in him, but reports in the Daily Express claim Zinedine Zidane’s side are now also on his trail.

The former RB Salzburg player has a £55M release clause with the Bundesliga giants, which Arsenal may struggle to meet this summer, but Los Blancos and La Liga rivals Barcelona can afford it.

Slimane on Arteta radar

The Gunners are being linked with a low key move for highly-rated Brondby teenager Anis Ben Slimane, according to reports in Denmark.

Fan website Just Arsenal claim sources from Danish newspaper BT believe Arsenal have already made contact with Brondby over a deal.

The ongoing financial squeeze of the Covid 19 outbreak could potentially strengthen Arsenal’s hand in negotiations, with the Danes asking price of £5M likely to be reduced.
