Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Gunners eye Premier League midfielder, Torres price revealed

Arsenal failed to win for the second Premier League game in succession on Sunday, playing out a goalless draw with Leeds United at Elland Road.

After being on the receiving end of a 3-0 hammering by Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium prior to the international break, there was a sense of optimism within the Arsenal camp that the break had come at a good time and a reaction would be shown in West Yorkshire.

In truth, Mikel Arteta's side, who will resume their Europa League campaign with a clash against Molde on Thursday evening, were lucky to escape with a point in the bag, with the Whites having dominated the majority of the contest.

As well as the stalemate with Leeds meaning the Gunners have won just one of their last five Premier League outings, it also means that they have failed to score from open-play in each of their last five league matches.

With that in mind, Arsenal could be in desperate need of added some much-needed attacking firepower in January.

With that said, here is a round-up of all the very latest Arsenal transfer gossip in one place.

Gunners target Sheffield Utd midfielder

Norwegian media outlet VG claim that the Gunners are keen on signing Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge.

The 22-year-old central-midfield operator joined the Blades from Belgian outfit Genk back in January, sealing a move to England in a big-money deal.

Despite having impressed during his first 10 months in the Premier League, the midfielder could be anxious of the fact that he could potentially find himself playing Championship football next term, with the Blades still on the hunt for their first win of the season.

In the past, the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool had been linked with a move for Berge, suggesting the Blades would have little chance of retaining his services if they were to go through the dreaded trapdoor.

Arsenal learn Torres price

Arsenal will be forced to pay £50million if they are to pursue a move for Villarreal defender Pau Torres, according to a report by El Periodico Mediterraneo.

The Spanish centre-back, who is also being linked with a move to Real Madrid, has become a recent regular in the Spain team at international level.

His strong performances for Villarreal have to lead to widespread interest in his services. Arsenal have been linked with him in the past, but no deal has ever come to the fore.

Should the Gunners wish to reignite their interest in the defender, they would have to trigger the £50million release clause in his contract.

Gunners open Balogun talks

Arsenal have stepped up their efforts to retain the services of highly-rated striker Folarin Balogun, The Athletic, via Sports Mole, reports.

The 19-year-old, who made his senior debut for the Gunners earlier this season, stepping off the bench during the 3-0 victory over Dundalk in the Europa League, was heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium throughout the summer, attracting interest from Chris Wilder's Sheffield United and Championship outfit Brentford.

Balogun's current deal at the Emirates Stadium is poised to expire next summer, meaning the club faces a race against time to tie him down to a new deal.

Brighton & Hove Albion, Southampton and even Italian giants AC Milan are also reportedly interested in securing his services.

The striker has enjoyed a series of outstanding seasons for the club's youth ranks, scoring 38 goals in 41 appearances at Under-18s level, as well as scoring 15 times in 40 outings for the Under-23s.
