Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Gunners eye English and Serie A stars for Ramsey replacements

There are just under three months until the summer window opens, and clubs will be forming their transfer strategy.

With some prospective targets, Arsenal might already be falling behind. But there is also plenty of hope around for the future.

Here are the latest updates and rumours for the players Unai Emery's side have been linked with in the last 24 hours.

Arsenal legend identifies Unai Emery's one big problem behind disappointing Everton loss

James Maddison

Arsenal have been urged to sign Leicester City midfielder James Maddison to replace Aaron Ramsey in the summer.

The Gunners midfielder is leaving for Juventus at the end of the season, leaving Unai Emery with another transfer headache to solve.

And former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino wrote in the Times that Emery should be looking to pick up Maddison from Leicester, who is having an outstanding first season in the Premier League.

"I look at Maddison and i think, ‘Arsenal is your team.’ The long goal for the north London side is targeting players in the summer and Maddison should be the man to replace Aaron Ramsey.

"There are not many great No.10s in world football, but Arsenal desperately need someone who plays like the Leicester City man.

"The problem for No 10s is that most are asked to work without the ball. Mesut Ozil and Dele Alli are expected to deliver without the ball and to be a defender for their teams too. You have to be very gifted to do that and nine out of 10 gifted players do not want to work without the ball.

"Maddison’s work-rate is good and getting better. There is no question about whether he is technical enough for the top flight."

Jordan Veretout

A number of clubs are said to be interested in the former Aston Villa man, who has impressed in Italy this season. And Le Foot via Sport Witness state that Arsenal would be able to secure a deal for around €25m-€30m.

The 26-year-old has scored five goals so far this season in Serie A.
