Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Gunners 'confident' of landing Aouar, Guendouzi talks begin

Time is running out for Arsenal in their search to land a new midfielder.

Mikel Arteta is desperate to strengthen the middle of the park before the window slams shut on October 5 but progress has been slow.

Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey have been targeted by the Gunners but the fee for each of those players appears to be causing a problem.

To help make up the numbers, Arsenal are understood to be keen to offload a number of players with the likes of Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi tipped for exits.

Liverpool 3-1 Arsenal: Mikel Arteta press conference

Below we run you through all the latest rumours as pressure ramps up ahead of the deadline.

Gunners 'confident' of landing Aouar

Arsenal are reportedly preparing another bid for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.

ESPN claim the Gunners are 'confident' of getting the Aouar deal done before the end of the window on October 5.

It's reported that Arsenal are confident their next offer will be accepted and are preparing to submit it having turned attention solely to Aouar.

Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey has been strongly linked with the Gunners, but the report claims they have now decided on Aouar.

Guendouzi talks

Reports in France claim there is 'confirmation of contact' between Marseille and Arsenal over Matteo Guendouzi.

Though, TeleFoot, who have revealed that information, have said that a possible deal is 'complicated' at this stage.

Guendouzi appears to very much unwanted at Arsenal following a falling out with Arteta.

That means it's likely Arsenal want to sell the Frenchman this summer but Marseille are only reportedly seeking a loan.

Maitland-Niles to stay put despite Man United talk

Rumours that Manchester United have agreed a deal worth around £20million for Arsenal appear to be false.

The Manchester Evening News have confirmed Maitland-Niles is not being pursued by the Reds and Goal have reported Arsenal have made their stance clear over the midfielder.

They report that Arsenal are not willing to allow Maitland-Niles to leave in this window.

That's not wholly surprising given the 23-year-old has played a full 90 minutes in two of Arsenal's first three Premier League games this season.
