Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Everton plan hijack of £25m deal, number one target named

With Arsenal now all but set to compete in the Europa League next season their transfer plans will start to become clearer over the coming weeks.

The window won't open for some time yet but the club are likely to be in the process of setting up possible deals for the summer.

We'll obviously know more as the weeks go on but Arsenal continue to be linked with a number of different players, today has seen stories about familiar names and slightly unfamiliar ones hit the headlines.

Here are some of the latest big Arsenal rumours from today:

'Just leave' - Arsenal fans lay the blame on one player after Brighton draw dents top four hopes

Leandro Trossard

The Genk captain was linked with a move to Arsenal repeatedly last summer and has started to be linked with him against this year.

He's had a strong season in the Belgian top flight, scoring 12 in 28 games so far, usually operating out wide and has also been linked with a move to the Bundesliga.

His agent Josy Comhair said: "I think that Germany is a beautiful country for him. You can take it one step higher via Germany.

"Because with Arsenal you are immediately at the highest level and you can almost only go down. But yes, it can also be Arsenal."

But now the Daily Star are a reporting that Everton are confident of beating Arsenal to signing the £25 million rated man.

Wilfried Zaha

According to the Sun , Arsenal want to buy homegrown players this summer and see Wilfried Zaha as the perfect man to lead a new 'British core' at the club, despite Zaha being an Ivory Coast international born in the African nation's economic capital of Abidjan.

They report that the Crystal Palace winger is not the Gunners number one target in a possible £40 million summer move.

However, it's not all positive news on the Zaha front with former England star John Barnes adamant that a move to the Emirates would be a bad one for the Ivorian international.

“I think Palace suits him - a bit like (Marko) Arnautovic at West Ham,” Barnes said on  beIN Sports Super Saturday . “He’s a superstar in that team, he does what he wants.

“When he goes to a team whereby he has to fit into how they play, he is a real individual player who needs to be, I think, at a club like Palace.

”He goes anywhere on the field, he tries everything, and they allow him to do that at Palace.

“They won’t allow him to do that at Arsenal.”

The Celtic left-back continues to be linked with Arsenal and the Gunners appear to have already seen off some competition for his signature without having to do a thing.

The Daily Star report that the Scottish national team player will not be making a move to Leicester City as many had expected this summer.

Brendan Rodgers' move for the 21-year-old has apparently been scuppered by Pep Guardiola's desire to give Benjamin Mendy another chance at Manchester City.

That, in turn, has meant that Ben Chilwell is likely to stay at the King Power Stadium and as such Leicester will not have the funds available to go after the full-back.
