Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Battle with Chelsea & Man United for defender, centre-back eyed

On the pitch, Arsenal remain in the chase for both the Europa League and a Premier League top four spot. But off it, things are also starting to heat up.

The summer transfer window is getting closer every day and Arsenal are still yet to bring in the technical director they had hoped for to guide them through it.

Despite that, the rumours linking the Gunners with a variety of players from around the globe are not going away any time soon.

Here are the latest updates and rumours for the players the Gunners have been linked with in the press in the last 24 hours.

Uefa set to hand Arsenal and Unai Emery a huge boost for potential Europa League final

Thomas Meunier

Despite being linked with a move to Manchester United for some time now, Arsenal and Chelsea have reportedly joined the race for PSG right-back Thomas Meunier.

The two London clubs are said to be pondering a move for the right-back, and the Ligue 1 side have reportedly named their price for the defender.  RMC Sport  state that a bid of around £26m will be enough for the champions to part way with the 27-year-old.

Meunier will enter the last year of his contract in the summer, and is known to be a Manchester United fan.

Eric Bailly

Arsenal are interested in signing Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly in the summer.

The defender has been out of favour this season, and the Gunners are eyeing a possible cut-price move for the 25-year-old, according to the  Sun .

Emery could test the waters with a bid of around £20million - a £10m reduction on what United paid for Bailly in 2016.

Adrien Rabiot

Real Madrid will not be signing PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the summer.

The 24-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and will be available on a free transfer, but Zinedine Zidane has turned down the chance to sign him because of his wage demands, according to  AS .

Zidane has apparently told the club to move onto other targets, including Manchester United’s Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante of Chelsea.

Uncertainty is growing over where Rabiot will end up, given his last competitive appearance came at the start of December last year, and the fees he is seeking seem to be putting off a growing number of clubs.

Danny Welbeck

Newcastle United are set to be offered the chance to sign Danny Welbeck in the summer.

The Arsenal striker is expected to leave the club in the summer with his contract expiring at the end of the season, having missed most of this campaign due to an ankle injury suffered in the Europa League.

The 28-year-old is looking for a fresh start, according to the  Chronicle , with his time at the Emirates Stadium due to numerous injuries. But Newcastle are said to be cool on the striker for now.

Valencia could also potentially make a move for the former Manchester United man, and are said to be tracking his progress.
