Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Atletico Madrid eye Partey swap deal with ex-Gunners star

Arsenal target considered for swap-deal

Atletico Madrid are keen to swap Thomas Partey for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to The Sun.

Partey, 26, first joined Atletico in 2012 but is reportedly willing to leave the club and move to the Premier League. He is considered Arsenal’s top transfer target ahead of the summer window, although they could now face competition from the Reds.

The Ghanian has a £45million release clause, and the Sun reports that the Gunners hesitancy overpaying that has allowed Jurgen Klopp’s men to steal in. Atletico are said to be resigned to losing Partey, and as such are considering a straight swap involving Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The England international joined Liverpool from Arsenal for £35million in 2017 and has played 34 times for the club this season, notching seven goals.

Willian open to staying in North London

Chelsea look set to lose Willian on a free transfer this summer as speculation surrounding his future intensifies.

The Brazilian has been strongly linked with Tottenham of late, as he seeks to secure his long-term future. Discussions between the player and Chelsea have reached an impasse as the club refuse to sanction a long-term deal for a player over 30-years-old.

Now, Chelsea correspondent Oliver Harbord has confirmed a second suitor has joined the race.

“If something doesn’t happen in the next few months, Willian will leave on a free this summer, and there doesn’t seem to be any reason why he wouldn’t move across London,” he wrote. “The winger and his family are settled in London, and Jose Mourinho is a fan of Willian, while Arsenal could also be keen on him.

George Lewis edges closer towards Arsenal move

Arsenal are moving closer to finalising a deal for teenager George Lewis.

Lewis, 19, is in talks with Arsenal after impressing while on trial earlier this year, according to Goal. He is currently playing in Norway and has had spells with Tromsdalen and Fram Larvik. Interestingly, the teenager, who started his career with Tromso IL, has not featured for any of Norway’s youth teams.

“It’s been in the news over here about Arsenal, but no-one really gave it much attention at first,” Jonathan Hill, a coach that worked with Lewis at Tromsdalen, told Goal.

“I’m delighted for George, but I’m also a little surprised. He’s nearly 20 and never been near the national teams, and it’s not like he’s gone off the radar here during his development. So it has come as a surprise, but hopefully, he can do well over there if it happens.”
