Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: Antoine Griezmann eyed, Aubameyang sent Liverpool message

It’s set to be an important summer for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal as he gets the chance to put his stamp on his side.

The Gunners remain in the hunt for a European spot in the Premier League as we reach the business end of the season, but regardless of their final position, there looks to be some changes on the way at the Emirates Stadium.

It’s been an up and down season for Arsenal, and Arteta will be aiming to make sure they’re back contending near the top of the table as he gets down to work this summer.

Here are the latest transfer rumours and gossip coming from north London.

Griezmann tipped to join Gunners

Arsenal could be in the running to sign Antoine Griezmann after a disappointing first season at Barcelona for the French World Cup winner.

The 29-year-old joined the Catalan club last summer, having come close to a move the previous year before electing to stay at Atletico Madrid.

Since arriving at the Camp Nou, Griezmann has scored just eight goals in 32 La Liga matches, and looks to have fallen out of favour after only being given two minutes against his former club on Tuesday night.

That could enable Arsenal to pounce, with the Express reporting that the Gunners and Inter Milan are both interested.

Ceballos talks

Mikel Arteta has confirmed the club are in talks with Real Madrid over the future of Dani Ceballos beyond the end of this season.

The midfielder is currently on loan at the Emirates Stadium, and has already agreed to stay until the end of the season – although Arsenal would like him to stay beyond then.

“Both clubs have been in communication. I really like Dani and what he brings to the team,” Arteta told reporters at a press conference.

“The running that he's putting in, the tackles, every time with the interceptions, his desire to win that ball back and help the team, he's improved so much and he looks a really good player at the moment.”

Aubameyang urged to join Reds

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been urged to quit Arsenal and team back up with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

The Gabon international played for the German at Borussia Dortmund and, amid uncertainty over his future in north London, former Red Stephen Warnock has suggested he should make the move to Anfield.

“If I was Jurgen Klopp, I’d be going for him with a year left on his contract, and you’re wanting a goalscorer who can either come off the bench or play on a regular basis,” Warnock told BBC 5 Live Sport.

“Aubameyang will be on big wages, but he won’t cost you big money to get him out with a year left on his contract and the age that he’s at.”
