Latest Arsenal transfer rumours: £10m Pablo Mari discount, Thomas Partey 'signing of the summer'

Arsenal picked up their first Premier League win in almost a month on Sunday evening, as they beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 's second-half penalty was enough for the Gunners, as they showed a defensive solidity against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

New signings Thomas Partey and Gabriel Magalhaes were both key in getting the three points, demonstrating Mikel Arteta 's successful summer transfer window.

With the January window now just under two months away from opening, the Gunners could have a look at signing even more players to improve their squad.

With that being said, here are the latest Arsenal-related transfer stories.

Mikel Arteta impressed by how well Gabriel and Partey have settled in

£10m Mari discount

Arsenal reportedly landed the signing of Pablo Mari for £14m from Flamengo back in January.

That's what the Daily Mail initially reported, but new reports from Brazil are suggesting that the Gunners completed the deal for around £10m less.

Hashtag Rubro Negro are reporting that the Brazilian side's balance sheet shows the deal was actually worth €4m (£3.6m).

Mari made three Premier League appearances in the second half of last season, but is yet to make a first-team appearance under Arteta during this campaign.

Partey 'signing of the summer'

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson believes Thomas Partey to the Gunners is the "signing of the summer".

Speaking to Sky Sports, Merson heaped the praise on Partey - who was one of the standout performers in Arteta's side's 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday night.

The ex-Gunner said: "When you talk about signings of the summer, he's got to be number one. I cannot believe, without being horrible here, that Arsenal got him.

"I don't mean that in a horrible way, they're all crying out for it - I know Manchester United are top-heavy and they've got Fred, McTominay and Matic, but they haven't got Partey."

Arsenal must move on from Ozil, says Winterburn

Former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn has urged his old club to move on from Mesut Ozil, after being left out of both the Europa League and Premier League squad.

Ozil - who hasn't featured for the Gunners since March - is out of contract at the end of this season, and is expected to move from the Emirates.

Winterburn believes it's time for the North London club to move on from the Ozil saga, when talking to FreeSuperTips: "Mesut Ozil is a terrific player and the one thing that he does give you is that he will create chances but at the same time, he is not going to give you that defensive side to the game, with and without the ball, which is why he hasn't been selected.

"When the team aren't creating chances then Ozil's name will always come up and we should try and move away from that because he is not going to be part of the squad and probably won't be involved again at the football club, so he is not an option that Arsenal can consider."
