Latest Arsenal transfer news: Massive Upcamecano boost, move for Bundesliga striker blocked

Arsenal kicked off life under Mikel Arteta with a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth on Boxing Day.

The Gunners showed signs of promise with a much-improved display, with only wasteful finishing costing them three points on the south coast.

However, rumours are circulating around a lot of potential incomings and outgoing with the January transfer window around the corner.

Art de Roche's first week in charge and Granit Xhaka

The futures of Grant Xhaka, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are all in the air and with that in mind, here is the latest round-up of Arsenal transfer rumours.

Arsenal handed Upamecano boost

Arsenal have been handed a potential boost in their bid to sign Red Bull Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.

The Gunners are long-term admirers of the French defender and were heavily linked with a summer move.

They will be boosted to know that Leipzig have moved closer to securing his replacement.

Get French Football News report that 17-year-old Paris Saint-Germain defender Tanguy Kouassi is on his way to Leipzig, paving the way for Upamecano to move to Arsenal.

Leverkusen block Volland move

Bayer Leverkusen are to offer German striker Kevin Volland a new contract to stave off interest from Arsenal.

The 27-year-old is reported to be on the Gunners' radar with Aubameyang's future up in the air.

Arsenal have been scouting the forward but Sky Germany claim Leverkusen will block any bids for the striker.

Arsenal handed Rabiot blow

Juventus will turn down any approach for Adrien Rabiot in January.

The French midfielder joined the Serie A giants for free in the summer from Paris-Saint Germain but has only made five league starts this term.

However, Sport Mediaset report that Juventus are not willing to let Rabiot leave in January and will not even consider a loan offer from Arsenal.

With Xhaka reportedly on the verge of joining Hertha Berlin, the Gunners need to strengthen their midfield department in the New Year.
