This summer is a massive one for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal, as the club look to fight their way back into the Champions League next season.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there is a shorter turnaround between seasons, with the new campaign set to start on September 12.
The transfer window, however, will stay open until October 6, with teams given more time to improve their squads.
With that being said, here are the very latest Arsenal-related transfer rumours.
United make late bid for Gabriel
Manchester United have made a late bid for Lille centre-back, and reported Arsenal target, Gabriel Magalhaes, according to the Telegraph.
The report states that the Brazilian centre-back has delayed making a conclusive decision over his future following the bid from Old Trafford.
Arsenal already have an agreement in place for him to move to Arteta’s side next season, but United’s late move could potentially sway his head.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team boast playing Champions League football next season, unlike the Gunners, who will instead have to settle for another Europa League campaign.
Tottenham plotting move for Maitland-Niles
Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move for Arsenal youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
Spurs are monitoring Maitland-Niles’ situation at their arch-rivals, as they look to improve their right-back options, with Serge Aurier’s future uncertain.
The 22-year-old has not been a guaranteed starter under Arteta since his appointment, and the Gunners could look to sell him in order to raise funds for other deals.
The Mail are reporting that Arsenal will entertain offers in the region of £20million for Maitland-Niles, but nothing less.
Napoli in talks over Sokratis deal
Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos is in talks with Italian club Napoli over a transfer, according to the Times, via HITC.
The Greek defender could leave the Emirates, with the Gunners interested in completing a move for Magalhaes.
Sokratis received limited game-time in the Premier League last season, playing 19 times for the Gunners across the 38-game campaign.
The 32-year-old arrived at the Emirates back in 2018, on a £17.7million deal from German side Borussia Dortmund.
