Latest Arsenal transfer news: Loan targets identified, £22m for defender, Brazil wonderkid snub

Arsenal are yet to make a mark in the January transfer window.

Mikel Arteta's side have been linked with multiple incomings and outgoing but supporters are yet to see the Spaniard's first acquisition.

Nevertheless, the transfer rumours mill has been in full swing with 15 days remaining on the January window.

Here, we round-up the day's latest Arsenal transfer news ahead of their weekend clash with Sheffield United in the Premier League.

Arsenal v Sheffield United: Mikel Arteta press conference

Arsenal and Tottenham chase Dakonam

Arsenal and Tottenham are both trying to sign Getafe defender Djene Dakonam.

The 28-year-old has been a star performer for the La Liga club over the last two seasons.

The Sun  claims that Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton and West Ham are all interested in signing the centre-back in the January transfer window.

Getafe value Djene at around £22million and Monaco are understood to have already made a bid, but their offer of £12.8million was dismissed.

Loan signings identified

Arsenal will only look to complete loan signing this month, according to the latest reports.

The Athletic  claim that Arteta will only be allowed to make temporary additions due to budget restrictions.

Those same reports claim the Spaniard is looking to bring in additional cover at centre-back, following Callum Chambers' season-ending injury, as well as central midfield.

Arsenal, of course, spent over £100million on transfers in the summer.

Arsenal to miss out on Brazilian wonderkid

Barcelona are set to beat Arsenal to the signing of teenage defender Yan Couto.

The 17-year-old right-back has earned rave reviews with Cortiba and has been linked with a move to Europe, as a result.

Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen had both been credited with an interest in the Brazilian wonderkid, value at around £4.2million.

However, reports from  Globoesporte  claim Barcelona have stolen a march in the race to secure his signature.
