Latest Arsenal transfer news: Juventus defensive duo targeted, Thomas Lemar transfer boost

Arsenal secured their first win under Mikel Arteta on New Year's Day to lift the mood around the Emirates

With the January transfer window open, speculation has begun about Arsenal's potential activity.

Having spent over £100m in the summer, the amount of money available to Arteta mid-season is relatively unknown.

The Arsenal boss insisted that Granit Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang won't be leaving the club this month and admitted Callum Chambers' injury could force them into the transfer market.

Arsenal chase Juventus defender

 

Arteta wants to make Juventus defender Danielle Rugani his first signing as Arsenal manager.

With Chambers' knee injury ruling him out for the reason of the season, the Gunners are in the market for a new centre-back.

However, they will have to move quickly as, according to  The Express , Leicester City are also interested and have stolen a march in the race for his signature.

The report claims the out-of-favour Italian defender will cost in the region of £20m.

Arsenal receive Lemar boost

Atletico Madrid are trying to sell Thomas Lemar this window to raise funds, much to the joy of Arsenal.

A ccording to Marca , the Spanish side are plotting deals for Paco Alcacer and Edison Cavani, meaning they are willing to allow Lemar to move to a new club.

Arsenal almost signed the Frenchman back in 2017 and rumours have linked them with a move once again in the January transfer window.

Marca have also named Arsenal as a club interested in Lemar, although there is likely to be interest from other big clubs across Europe.

Arsenal and Chelsea to battle for Demiral

Arsenal will face competition from London rivals Chelsea if they want to sign Juventus defender Merih Demiral.

Demiral has also previously been linked with Manchester United but, according to Fotomac, Arsenal, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Schalke are all vying for the 21-year-old, but the most serious interest is coming from the Gunners.

The Turkish newspaper say Arsenal could make an offer around €50 million for the former Fenerbahce academy player, but Juventus are determined to keep him.
