Latest Arsenal transfer news: Barcelona make fresh Aubameyang advance, three-way Can battle

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta is still awaiting his first signing as we enter the final week of the January transfer window.

The Gunners are in FA Cup fourth round action against Bournemouth this evening before their attention will firmly turn to Friday's deadline.

A deal to sign Flamengo defender Pablo Mari is in the balance with reports claiming he has flown back to Brazil after talks between Arsenal and Flamengo broke down.

Rumours over a potential loan deal for Atletico Madrid winger Thomas Lemar continue to rumble on, although it remains to be seen how much truth are behind the reports.

Here, we round up the day's latest Arsenal transfer news.

Barcelona want Aubameyang

Arsenal are expecting Barcelona to bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the end of the January transfer window.

The Catalan giants are keen to add a new striker to their ranks after Luis Suarez was ruled out with an injury.

According to the Telegraph, Barcelona have not given up hope on signing Aubameyang, whose contract expires in 18 months.

However, they have lined up Valencia striker Rodrigo Moreno as a first-choice replacement.

Emre Can battle

Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United are all still pursuing the signing of Emre Can this month.

The former Liverpool midfielder joined Juventus on a free transfer 18 months ago but has struggled for game time this season under Maurizio Sarri.

Borussia Dortmund are thought to be closing in on the 26-year-old’s signature although he will have to take a considerable pay cut, reports  Bild.

However, a deal, believed to be in the region of £26million is not a done deal.

Arsenal and Everton are set to battle it out to sign Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez on loan before the January transfer window shuts.

The 28-year-old returned to Spanish capital last summer after two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich.

According to Spanish outlet  AS, Arsenal head coach Arteta wants to sign a quality attacking player this month, and Rodriguez is a name under consideration.

The Colombia international is valued at £34 million by Real Madrid, but the Gunners would reportedly prefer a loan deal, with finances tight this month.
