Latest Arsenal transfer news: Aubameyang makes Barcelona decision, Newcastle move for wonderkid

Arsenal suffered defeat in Mikel Arteta's first game in charge against Chelsea.

It was a late collapse from the Gunners that cost them all three points, leaving Arteta with plenty to ponder ahead of the start of the January transfer window.

The start of the New Year could see some ins and outs at the Emirates stadium as their new head coach looks to mould his squad.

Here, we round-up all the latest Arsenal transfer rumours ahead of the January transfer window.

Premier League match preview: Arsenal v Manchester United

Aubameyang's Barcelona decision

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could snub a transfer to Barcelona in January to assess his options until the summer.

The Arsenal star has only 18 months left on his current contract and reports have linked him away from the club.

However, Le10 Sport say that Barcelona would love to snap him up and pair him alongside Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann in attack.

Aubameyang, though, is said to be considering staying in north London until the end of the season before reassessing his options.

Xhaka set for exit

Granit Xhaka's controversial time at Arsenal looks like it will come to an end in January.

The latest reports on the former captain suggest that Xhaka has agreed terms on a loan move to Hertha Berlin, with a £25m price set to make the deal permanent.

However, the deal must be rubber-stamped by Arteta, say the  Independent , in order for it to go through.

The Spaniard will be given the final call on whether to keep Xhaka or allow him to move back to Germany.

Arsenal face Bellingham competition

Newcastle United are chasing Birmingham City star Jude Bellingham,  The Telegraph have claimed .

The 16-year-old has broken into the Blues' first team and has taken to life in the Championship like a duck to water.

Arsenal have been linked with a swoop for the teenage sensational, although they're to be challenged by Newcastle, who could make a transfer bid as early as January.

Bellingham's current Birmingham contract runs until June 2021.
