Lateral flow tests unavailable for third day as NHS Covid Passport is launched

Lateral flow tests are unavailable to order from the Government for the third day in a row.

Increased demand led to the Gov.UK page for ordering free lateral flow home testing kits running out of stock on both Monday and Tuesday, after new testing advice was announced.

The kits were available on Wednesday morning but fresh problems emerged at around 10am, on the same day England introduced the NHS Covid Pass requirement for entry to large venues like concert arenas and football stadium.

"Sorry, there are no home delivery slots left for rapid lateral flow tests right now," read a message on the ordering page, which then suggests going to a pharmacy to pick up a lateral flow kit if possible.

It is not yet clear when slots will become available again.

Many took to social media to vent their frustration.

"Still can't order a lateral flow test," tweeted @AnotherRunHQ.

"I'm still unable to order a lateral flow test kit, the third day running. It's a great idea telling people to regularly take tests when you can't get hold of them," tweeted @yorvik187.

The kits were available earlier on Wednesday morning.

Chris Humphreys tweeted: "Not sure if it’s because it’s early or because they’ve resolved whatever supply issue they had but I was just able to order a box of lateral flow tests from the NHS with no issues."
