Late-night house party broken up by police in 'usually quiet' Glasgow neighbourhood

Glasgow police were called to reports of a house party late last night.

Officers arrived at the address in Shawlands shortly before midnight and arrested three people.

House gatherings are forbidden as part of Scotland's strict covid lockdown rules, imposed on Boxing day.

The drama unfolded at 11.50pm in the usually quiet neighbourhood, the Daily Record reports.

A witness at the scene said there were multiple blue lights and shouting.

He explained: "I was just about to nod off for the night when I heard sirens blaring and cars driving at speed to the area. Not really sure what happened, but there was a lot of shouting

"Very unusual for this part of the city which is generally quite quiet."

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police were called to a report of a house party ..

"Officers attended and three people were arrested and will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal."
