Late night house fire in Livingston being investigated by police as officers hunt witnesses

A late night house fire in Livingston is being investigated by police.

The blaze broke out at a property in Ryebank some time between 11.30pm on Friday and 4am on Saturday.

Officers say that while nobody was injured, the consequences could very easily have been more serious.

They want anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in this area to come forward.

Police constable Stephen Suddon from Livingston police station said: "We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area at this time, or shortly before the reported incident, to come forward with information.

"Thankfully in this situation no one was injured, however, the consequences could have been different.

"I would ask anyone who had witnessed anything suspicious that night or anyone who has any information to contact us at Livingston Police Station on 101, quoting incident number 0728 of April 20 2019."

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
