Late-night alleged sexual assault leaves disturbed Dublin locals living in fear as community shocked

A Dublin TD has said that a southside community has been left shocked following the news that a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted on Christmas Eve.

Sinn Fein TD for Dublin South-West, Sean Crowe has called on extra garda resources for Tallaght following the horrifying apparent attack.

A woman in her 30s was allegedly sexual assaulted between the hours of 9pm and midnight on Christmas Eve on the N81, Tallaght Bypass near Jobstown.

Deputy Crowe appealed to anybody with information to contact Gardai immediately.

He said: "The news of an apparent sexual assault in the Jobstown area just off the N81 has been shocking and disturbing to the local community.

"We urgently need additional Gardaí on the beat to ensure that people are safe walking the streets during the holiday period.

"The Garda Authorities are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of the N81 near Jobstown on Christmas Eve with dash cam cameras in their car between 9 and midnight to check their footage.

"Anybody with additional information or who witnessed any unusual behaviour  should also immediately make contact with An Garda Síochána."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Tallaght Garda Station on (01) 6666000 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
