SALT LAKE CITY _ The Orlando Magic put together a late-game run that on most nights likely would have secured a victory.
But they just couldn't hold on.
The Magic rallied from a 17-point third-quarter deficit, only to watch the Utah Jazz pull away down the stretch to post a 109-102 victory Tuesday night at Vivint Smart Home Arena.
The Magic (12-15) erased that deficit with a 33-8 run _ led by D.J. Augustin's 18 points _ during an 8-minute and 16-second stretch of the second half. When Nikola Vucevic's layup went through the basket with 4:14 left to play, Orlando led, 97-90.
But the Magic struggled to score after that, as they watched the Jazz respond with a 19-5 run to close the game.
Augustin finished with 22 points, while Evan Fournier had 19, Markelle Fultz had 14 and Vucevic had 12 for Orlando.
Donovan Mitchell and Bojan Bogdanovic scored 30 points apiece to lead the Jazz (16-11), who improved to 11-3 at home this season.
The Magic missed their first 10 3-point attempts and wound up 7 of 35 (20.0%) from beyond the arc. The Jazz, meanwhile, were 15 of 36 from 3-point range, with Bogdanovic making six of those.
The Magic continue their four-game road trip on Wednesday in Denver against the Nuggets. The game tips off at 9 p.m. (EST) and will be broadcast on Fox Sports Florida.
