Late Late viewers cracking up over 'posh' detail in Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson interview

Late Late Show viewers were cracking up over a posh detail during Ryan Tubridy's chat with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson on Friday night's show, RSVP reports.

The famous duo were on the show in the same week their new movie, The Banshees of Inisherin, had its Irish premiere in Dublin.

Viewers were distracted, however, by a familiar giant rug rolled out for the actors on the Late Late set. Irish Twitter soon made the feature a running joke.

The film's official poster was used as a backdrop during Colin and Brendan's chat, and their chairs were sitting on a red patterned rug, which was a change from the usual interviews on the RTE show.

One viewer tweeted: "You know you’ve made when the #latelate roll out the Persian rug for ya."

A second added: "The Late Late Show using the fancy rug is like your mother using the nice biscuits for the visitors."

"The good red carpet is out for the Achill lads," a third wrote.

While a fourth viewer said: "Roll up that rug there Ryan, can't concentrate on the lads."

Another said: "RTE's posh rug is out for the lads. They've officially made it. Cue career montage."

During the interview, Colin opened up to Ryan about working with fellow Irish actor Barry Keoghan for the movie, and how he wound Colin up for stealing his Crunchy Nut Cornflakes.

Colin said: "He lived with me during the film and I'd come in, in the morning and the f***ing place would be like racoons had been there.

"I came in and there was a carton of milk, and the carton of milk was on its side and was empty but there was lovely puddle of milk right on the floor.

"It was like somebody said, 'okay, how can we p*** him off? Put the milk on the side, put the puddle on the floor, get the cereal, have some soggy bits of flakes on the bottom, let that be the last of it'.

"So I saw the milk, I saw the bowl and there's the plastic thing that the Cornflakes are kept in and he had emptied the Cornflakes and put the plastic bag back in the [box]," Colin added with a laugh.
