Late Late Toy Show star's family confirm devastating health setback

The family of Late Late Toy Show star Saoirse Ruane have confirmed she has been diagnosed with a new tumour.

Saoirse's mum Roseanna took to Instagram to share an update with their followers on Saoirse's health. The mum shared that Saoirse had been diagnosed with a new tumour at Crumlin Children's Hospital, much to the distress of her family.

Saoirse had previously undergone a leg amputation in order to treat osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer. The young girl also endured months of chemotherapy as a result of her condition.

The 10-year-old quickly learnt to walk and even cycle again following the ordeal. However, Saoirse's mum said that the latest news of her daughter's health was yet another "bump in the road" for the family.

Roseanna said on Instagram: "We travel to Dublin for more scans next week and await our team to come up with a plan for our brave courageous girl. We ask you to please keep Saoirse in your prayers."

The tumour was detected during a routine scan for Saoirse, which Roseanna explained always leave the family anxious. The mum said the news has been particularly upsetting as her daughter has been in great health recently and had returned to playing camogie.

People took to the comments section to share their well wishes for Saoirse. People praised the young girl for her determination despite the upsetting blow.

One person wrote: "Life can be so unfair. Saoirse is a very strong beautiful young lady and hopefully our prayers will give her all the strength she needs to keep fighting."

Another person added: "I hope Saoirse finds the strength to get through this again. As parents it must be devastating to watch your daughter go through all this- mind each other, will keep praying. We need good news."

Saoirse's struggle with cancer became public following her appearance on the Late Late Toy Show in 2020. The young girl is a budding singer and previously recorded a cover of the empowering tune 'Fight Song' with Bressie in a recording studio.
