Late Late Show to host special Eurovision episode to decide Ireland's representative

Six acts will be narrowed down to one this weekend, when The Late Late Show hosts a special Eurosong episode to determine who will represent Ireland at this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

Ryan Tubridy will introduce six acts, who will each perform their songs this Friday night, as Ireland looks for its representative to head to Liverpool this May.

Hundreds of musical acts submitted songs in the hope of representing Ireland at the 67th annual Eurovision Song Contest, which will be viewed by an audience of 160 million people globally.

The Late Late Show audience will have their say on Ireland's Eurovision representative as viewers will be able to cast their vote and the winner will be decided by a combination of that public vote, an international jury and a national jury.

The six acts who will compete in this Friday's Eurosong Late Late Show special are ADGY with Too Good for your Love, Connolly with Midnight Summer Night, Wild Youth with We are One, Leila Jane with Wild, K Muni & ND,K Muni & ND, Kofi Appiah and Nevlonne Dampare with Down in the Rain, and Public Image Limited with Hawaii.

"This Friday is going to have a big, bright and sparkly line-up of acts," Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy said ahead of Friday night.

"Big stars, big numbers and big expectations because this could well be Ireland’s chance to reclaim their title as Eurovision winners. So, I would say get ready to party and join us for what should be quite the extravaganza."

Liverpool will play host to this year's Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of last year's winner's Ukraine, with the final of the competition set to take place at the Liverpool Arena on Saturday, May 13. The semi-finals are scheduled for Tuesday, May 9, when Ireland's representative will first perform, and Thursday, May 11.

The Late Late Eurosong Special airs on RTE One and the RTE Player at 9.35pm on Friday, February 3.
