Late Late Show: People shocked with The Script’s performance as they 'butcher their own song'

Fans were left shocked after The Script’s performance last night as RTE welcomed back The Late Late Show.

The band appeared on the show to perform their new song I Want It All as they begin promoting their Greatest Hits Tour that will take place in Europe and the UK next year.

However, the performance didn’t go to plan as fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment at the sound quality and the lead singer Danny O’Donoghue’s shakiness on the high notes.

One user said: “You would be RAGING if you bought tickets to The Script after hearing Danny singing like that on The Late Late. Jaysus”.

Others agreed that Danny wasn’t at his best for the performance and said: “What has happened to her man’s voice from the Script? Diabolical.”

To which a fan hilariously replied: “It was all that 'Drinking old cheap bottles of wine, Sh*t talking up all night'".

The Script have been on the top of the Irish music scene since they first formed in 2007 and are best known for their singles such as The Man Who Can’t Be Moved and Breakeven.

However, their rocky performance did not deter some loyal fans as they put it down to poor sound quality and Covid.

One viewer of The Late Late said: “Did The Script just manage to absolutely butcher their own song there??”

To which fans replied: “Let’s blame Covid.”

While another said: “Yes!! Could not hit those notes at all was as if he couldn’t hear the music!!”

Other’s noticed that Danny’s voice was drowned out by the music as viewers could barely hear the singer in parts.

One Twitter user said: “I think jis mic isn’t helping … he’s being drowned out ..”

Another said: “SOUND was so poor. Vocals in particular. His voice is thin in tone but I would put tonight’s performance ALL down to abysmal balancing by sound technicians.

“No one’s fault really. These things happen….after 18 months.”
