'Last throw of the dice' - Gary Neville makes desperate Manchester United claim after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rotation

Gary Neville feels Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's formation decision is "one last throw of the dice" as the Manchester United manager aims to survive the intense pressure that he is under.

Liverpool's 5-0 rout churned the dial to the top as they were dealt one of the heaviest defeats in their history and added to their Premier League run without a win. For United, the defensive issues continue as they continue to struggle defensively as their wait for a clean sheet hits the two-month mark.

For their trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Solskjaer opted to go to a five-man defence, a change that Neville felt was a "poor reflection" on the attacking players.

The Norwegian manager has come under fire following the defeat to Liverpool and has seen a number of managers linked with his position throughout the preparation for the trip to North London.

Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford both missed out as Victor Lindelof and Edinson Cavani entered the fray against Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

"I thought he’d make more than two [changes]. Those players who played last Sunday couldn't have complained if they were left out today," he said.

"It is a little bit last throw of the dice because they’ve been absolutely disgraceful defensively over the last few weeks.

"It’s a poor reflection on the more talented ones in the squad that he can’t trust them to do a job without the ball when you see managers across the country doing really good jobs with talented players who run without the ball as well as without the ball.

"Ole doesn’t feel as if he can trust them."
