'Last thing I want' - Jurgen Klopp clarifies Mohamed Salah Liverpool contract comments

Jurgen Klopp has moved to clarify his comments regarding Mohamed Salah's contract situation at Liverpool that seemingly prompted laughter from the player's agent.

Salah is approaching the final 12 months of his present deal at Anfield with talks having stalled over a fresh agreement despite the Egyptian having continually stated his desire to stay. Klopp said last Friday the decision was "pretty much" down to Salah and that the club "did what the club can do" over their offer.

Shortly afterwards, the player's agent Ramy Abbas posted seven laughing emojis on Twitter which was taken to be a response to the Reds boss. And asked if he had seen the reaction of Salah's representative, Klopp said: "I'm not on Twitter, another good reason for that.

"I con confirm he (Salah) is in a good mood. I said at the beginning I spoke about that... actually I shouldn't have, it was like it is. You (journalist) got me in the trap and all of a sudden I created headlines.

"The last thing I want to do in a press conference is create headlines and again if you just ask the question I give such a long answer."

Klopp, speaking on Tuesday, added: "It's all fine, I don't know about any kind of reaction or stuff like this. That's not what I'm concerned about.

"It's just I think that it's how it should be in the moment. The decisive parties are in contact and the rest we will see."

Salah is expected to be available for Wednesday's Premier League trip to Arsenal despite limping out of Saturday's win at Brighton with a foot injury.
