Last Night in Soho will be the horror film we're all watching this Halloween

Having dabbled in horror before with the superb Shaun of the Dead, Edgar Wright is making a fully-fledged return to the genre with his new psychological thriller, Last Night In Soho.

With a superb cast that's led by Anya Taylor-Joy and Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie, the first trailer is a wonderful showcase of Wright's unique combination of visual flair and pop-culture references.

In terms of the plot, not much is known about Last Night In Soho as the official synopsis states: Edgar Wright's psychological thriller is about a young girl, passionate in fashion design, who is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer. But 1960s London is not what it appears, and time seems to fall apart with shady consequences…"

Having seen the footage, there are quite a few nods to the likes of Suspiria, The Evil Dead, and Nicolas Roeg's wonderful Don’t Look Now throughout.

Elsewhere, we're certain that given the time period the film is set in, the soundtrack is going to boast some absolute belters from the British music scene of the swinging '60s.

As is the norm with an Edgar Wright film, the cast here is terrific with Matt Smith, Terence Stamp, Diana Rigg, Rita Tushingham and Michael Ajao all featuring.

Elsewhere, Last Night In Soho is also interesting in terms of Wright's new creative collaborator.

The script for the psychological horror is co-written by Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Penny Dreadful) as the talented director of Baby Driver and Scott Pilgrim vs The World expands his list of collaborators.

We can't wait to see what's in store!

At present, Last Night In Soho is scheduled to be released in Irish cinemas on October 29. Isn't that absolutely perfect for Halloween viewing on the big screen?
