'Last kick for us!' - Spurs fans rage as Christian Eriksen misses penalty in Colchester loss

Tottenham Hotspur have been dumped out of the Carabao Cup at the third round.

The 2008 winners who reached the semi-final of the competition last season couldn't find a way past Colchester United in normal time, so the tie went straight to a penalty shoot-out.

First up for Spurs was Christian Eriksen.

And he saw his spot-kick saved.

He wasn't the only Spurs player who failed to convert from 12 yards as Lucas Moura completely missed the target and that allowed Colchester to win the tie with the very next penalty.

However, most of the responses from Tottenham fans on social media has centred around Eriksen's miss.

The Dane has had a mixed start to the season.

Left on the bench for the opening day win over Aston Villa, he did make a difference after coming on, but struggled against Manchester City a week later.

Despite a goal in the north London derby at the beginning of the month, Eriksen was criticised for his showing against Olympiacos last week.

Now this penalty miss has increased the anger among some Spurs fans.

Take a look at how some reacted on Twitter...
