This dystopian novel takes place in the year 2137, in Eden, where a 16-year-old called Flora lives. Her life is disastrous because her gran died and now she has to cope with living by herself. Until Li-li, the daughter of the rice lord arrives, everything seems like a mess and she doesn't know what to do with her life, but the appearance of Li-li causes her normal life to peel away and she discovers things that are kept hidden away from her.
My initial view of this book is that I didn't enjoy at all, for the reason that it lacked detail and everything was just rushed. Countless times I had to turn back a page to reread it to understand what was happening, because there were times when the book would have one point and then it would jump onto another, without the slow process that authors would normally take.
In addition I didn't understand the plot because nothing seemed to happen for the first 100 pages and only after those 100 pages something finally happened. It was like a light bulb moment for me, although I felt the "action" part was a little too late. If it was brought forward then I might have enjoyed it.
Furthermore I didn't relate to any of the characters and some parts of the book, such as Flora getting pregnant, were unnecessary. My advice to the author is to develop the plot of the book and this world more, so that I would be able to read the book without any confusion.
To conclude, I didn't enjoy this book and found myself putting it down a few times, so I do not recommend this book to anyone. Even those dystopian lovers out there.
