Sainsbury’s shoppers only have until the end of today to pocket £25 in “free money” to use this Christmas.
The supermarket runs a Christmas Club card but the last time to top it up and benefit from a cash bonus is 11.59pm tonight.
Shoppers are able to load money onto their Christmas card from January 1 until November 1 each year.
Then depending on how much you’ve saved, you’ll get a cash bonus on top to spend in the supermarket.
The minimum amount you need to load onto the card to get any sort of bonus is £50, which would give you £2.50 free, or saving £100 would get you an extra £5, and so on.

The maximum bonus is £25 when you save £500, which is a 5% boost on your shop.
Here is the breakdown of how the bonuses work:
- £0 to £49.99 saved - no bonus
- £50 to £99.99 saved - £2.50 bonus
- £100 to £149.99 saved - £5 bonus
- £150 to £199.99 saved - £7.50 bonus
- £200 to £249.99 saved - £10 bonus
- £250 to £299.99 saved - £12.50 bonus
- £300 to £349.99 saved - £15 bonus
- £350 to £399.99 saved - £17.50 bonus
- £400 to £449.99 saved - £20 bonus
- £450 to £499.99 saved - £22.50 bonus
- £500 and over - £25 bonus
You can save up to a maximum of £1,975 though you won't get any extra bonus beyond £500.
The bonus you’ve accumulated will be added onto your card in November and will be valid until the date printed on your card.
Shoppers can pick up Sainsbury’s Christmas Club cards in stores and pay into it at any till, excluding Argos branches.
You can also manage cards online by registering your card.
What is your favourite way to save money in the supermarkets? Let us know in the comments below.
If you’ve yet to sign up, you should keep in mind that the only place you can spend your bonus money is in Sainsbury’s.
This means you’re locking yourself into spending money in one supermarket.
You should also note that supermarket saving schemes are not like a typical bank account.
This means your money isn't covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) up to £85,000 in the unlikely event that one of the supermarkets were to go bust.
Sainsbury’s isn't the only supermarket to offer a Christmas Saver scheme.
We've got a round up of all the grocers that run a similar initiative here including Asda, although Tesco and Morrisons have sadly closed their savers clubs for the year.
