Last Christmas has everything you could hope for in a Christmas film; a star-studded cast, a brilliant George Michael-inspired soundtrack and heaps of festive cheer.
The festive flick, produced by Emma Thompson and Paul Feig, follows the story of aspiring singer Kate (Emilia Clarke) whose day job is to be an elf at a Christmas shop, and who is feeling dissatisfied with life. When she meets Tom (Henry Golding) her perspective on life begins to change.
Set in London, the Christmas movie was actually filmed on location throughout the English capital during the 2018 festive season when the city was decked out in Christmas decorations.
In order to get the shots they needed, the cast and crew often filmed scenes at night, heading to the likes of Regent Street, Oxford Street and Cecil Court.

The Last Christmas filming locations
For the Christmas shop where Kate works, the crew built a festive shop in Covent Garden's iconic Market Building, but unfortunately it's not a real shop. (However, the picturesque Covent Garden and its festive decorations are!).
Meanwhile the garden where Kate and Tom have plenty of heart-to-hearts is actually Phoenix Gardens, a community garden in central London. The garden was decked out in festive lights for filming.

Other locations Londoners may recognise include Alexandra Palace, where Kate and Tom go ice skating, as well as Brixton's market where Kate and her mum go for a day out filled with food and drinks.
Director Paul Feig previously described the film as a "love letter to London".

He told Collider.com : "It's a love letter to London. We shot all in central London in locations that people don’t normally shoot at like Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, on The Strand, on The Embankment, in Covent Garden. I love London, my mum’s side of the family is British, so it really exciting to show off the London that I love."
