This is the final weekend for the Dumfries and Galloway
Standard Christmas Toy Appeal.
So, if you want to donate toys, sweet treats and gift vouchers for vulnerable children – from babies right through to teenagers – referred to us by the local agencies, this is your last chance for this
Christmas.
You need to hurry to take them along to one of our five collection points in Dumfries: Morrisons supermarket, Tesco Extra at Cuckoo Bridge, Tesco at the Peel Centre, and Marks and Spencer (tree near the coffee shop). Also, at the Dumfries branch of the Nationwide Building Society in Church Square between 9am and 2pm on Friday and Monday.
The appeal closes on Monday and it is essential this year to make sure:
■ There are no second-hand toys
■ They must be boxed or tagged
■ Please do not wrap toys in Christmas paper
We are grateful to everyone who donated gifts at the collection points this week and owe a huge thanks to Colin Coupland and fellow members of The Solway Vehicle Enthusiasts Club who gave the appeal 48 selection boxes, and to members of both the Masonic Lodge Dumfries Kilwinning No.53 and Dumfries’ Masonic Thistle Lodge No.62 who presented £100 cheques each for the appeal. Please be aware that our office is closed so do not take toys there or post us donations.
■ We are aware that because of the pandemic, supporters may want to make a cash donation this year rather than have to shop for a toy.
