Last chance to sign up for a chat with a stranger in Britain Talks project

Today is the last day to join Britain Talks – our ground-breaking project across the Liverpool ECHO, Daily Mirror, Daily Express and dozens of Reach PLC regional newspapers, aimed at bringing the country back together.

When we launched seven weeks ago, Parliament was paralysed by Brexit. Since then the European Elections and Tory leadership campaigns have only been polarising us further.

Yet over 3,000 people across the UK have been brave enough to step out of their political bubble and sign up for Britain Talks.

All we’re asking is for people to sign up to meet someone with an opposing view for a cup of tea on June 23 the third anniversary of Brexit. Just answer a few questions and our widget above will do the rest.

We will match you with someone who lives locally to you and who has different views. Then, we’re asking you to meet up – in a safe, public space – for a cup of tea or coffee, or for a walk – to chat.

Meet ups will take place on the weekend of June 23 – the third anniversary of Brexit. What better way to remember the day our nation divided, than by coming back together?

It’s the same weekend as the Great Get Together – the weekend Britain comes together in memory of Jo Cox for street parties and picnics. Jo’s view that our country has “more in common than that which divides us” is our inspiration.

Our research has revealed 82% of people feel our country is bitterly divided – but the same poll showed the same number wish the UK was more united.

Sign up today – or importantly, if you have already signed up, please do check your emails and make sure you have finished the sign up process. The deadline is MIDNIGHT TONIGHT - June 3.

Whatever happens, you will have shown the courage it takes to step outside your social bubble.

Good luck, and thank you for taking part.
