A crowd of visitors enjoy looking at cherry blossoms along Inui Street at the Imperial Palace on Saturday. A total of 103 cherry trees of 31 varieties, such as Someiyoshino and Yamazakura, are planted on both sides of the path, from which stone walls and moats of the former Edo Castle structure can be seen. The road in the palace grounds has been open to the public for periods in spring and autumn at the wish of the Emperor ever since his 80th birthday was celebrated in 2014, as he wants as many people as possible to enjoy the scenery. This is the last time in the Heisei era that the avenue is open to the public.
